A new independent survey has been launched to uncover how women on the Isle of Man really feel about style, shopping, confidence and the realities of getting dressed every day.
The Isle of Man State of Style Survey 2026, created by local image consultant Rebecca Hills of Vera Rae Image Consultancy, aims to gather insights from women across the Island and create the first report of its kind exploring the realities of women’s shopping habits, wardrobe confidence and personal style.
The survey will explore topics including local shopping experiences, online shopping habits, colour confidence, personal style, wardrobe waste and the financial impact of buying clothes that don’t get worn.
Rebecca said:
“Through my work with women across the Island, I’ve seen first-hand how many feel frustrated by their wardrobes, despite often spending significant amounts of money on clothing.
I wanted to create this survey to take a much deeper look at what women on the Isle of Man are really struggling with when it comes to clothes, shopping and confidence. Whether it’s finding the right styles, knowing what suits them, navigating online shopping or accessing the right options locally, I want to understand the challenges women are experiencing and whether there are common patterns emerging across the Island.
My aim is to use the findings to identify trends, spark conversations and help inform future events, services and collaborations that better support women on the Island. Ultimately, I hope the report will provide a clearer picture of the realities women face when it comes to style and shopping today.”
The findings will be compiled into the first Isle of Man State of Style Report, due to be published later this year.
The report aims to provide insight into:
- Local shopping challenges
- The impact of online shopping
- Women’s confidence in their clothing choices
- The cost of unworn purchases
- The influence of social media on shopping habits
- Opportunities for local retailers and businesses
The survey is open to women aged 18 and over and aims to gather responses from women across all age groups and backgrounds on the Island.
As a thank you, participants can enter a prize draw to win their choice of a Signature Colour Analysis or Mini Style Analysis experience with Vera Rae, each worth £190.
Rebecca added:
“The more women who take part, the more representative and meaningful the findings will be. My hope is that the report provides a genuine snapshot of women’s experiences on the Island and helps shine a light on the challenges and opportunities that often go unspoken. Too often, people complete surveys and never hear what happened next. I want the findings from this report to be used to shape future conversations, events, services and collaborations that genuinely reflect the needs and experiences of local women.”
